Smoke
Outlook: Rogue River – Siskiyou National
Forest Issued for: Thursday,
August 10, 2017
Smoke
Blanket Creek Fire – Smoke has settled and continues to linger in areas nearest to
the fires. Greatest impacts remain local
with the highest concentrations of smoke in Prospect and Shady Cove. An Air Quality Alert is in effect until
further notice for areas in northeast Jackson County, southeast Douglas
County, and western Klamath County. Wildfires
in the region combined with forecast conditions will cause air quality levels
to fluctuate and could be at unhealthy levels at times.
Spruce Lake Fire –
Tourists at Crater Lake National Park will be able to view and smell smoke. Visitors
should check for road closures and other announcements ahead of time. Visitors can check https://www.nps.gov/crla/planyourvisit/conditions.htm for updates.
Fire
Blanket Creek Fire – A Red Flag Warning is in effect from noon to 10pm today due
to abundant lightning in the area. Fire
activity will persist in spite of recent rain due to dry fuels. West winds will continue to push fire to the
east.
Spruce Lake Fire –
Expected to lose intensity as the fire moves southeast toward old burn scars
and patchy fuel areas.
