Smoke
Outlook: Chetco Bar Fire, Rogue River –
Siskiyou NF
Issued for: Saturday, August 5, 2017
Issued for: Saturday, August 5, 2017
Smoke:
The low pressure system around southern Oregon area
will bring cooler temperatures along with a more unstable atmosphere which
may improve dispersal of smoke. Smoke
from the fire is expected to drift to the southwest in the morning then push to
the east or northeast in the afternoon.
The air quality index in communities around the fire is expected to be
good overall today and tomorrow. Smoke
drift could impact Grants Pass, Cave Junction, Selma, and Provolt but air
quality is expected to be good overall.
Fire:
Fire activity yesterday was moderated
by favorable weather conditions. Fire
mapping information has not been updated and fire size remains approximately
4,228 acres. Fire activity and growth today and
tomorrow is expected to be minimal based on forecasted weather. Fire behavior will increase as the fire
becomes active moves along steep slopes and higher fuel loading
concentrations.
