Smoke:
Widespread smoke will be visible in the vicinity of
the Chetco Bar fire and surrounding areas.
Smoke from the fire is expected to drift to the southwest in the
morning then push to the southeast in the afternoon. The air quality index in communities around
the fire is expected to be moderate today and tomorrow around Cave Junction, Selma,
and Grants Pass and good around Agness, Gold Beach and Brookings. Regional fires throughout Oregon and N.
California will add to increased regional haze and declining air quality.
Fire:
Fire activity yesterday was moderate and the fire
is approximately 3,600 acres. Fire activity today and tomorrow is expected to
remain about the same based on mixed fuel types and steep and inaccessible
terrain.
Other: Fire is being managed under a
suppression strategy utilizing a mix of direct, indirect and point protection
tactics emaphaizing firefighter and public safety.
