Air Quality Report
# 01a Issued: August 8th 2015 10:30 AM
Gary Curcio and Janice Peterson, Air Resource Advisors
Smoke
Synopsis:
|
||||||
Today all valleys (Merlin Galice, Grants
Pass, Evans, Rogue River, Illinois & Applegate), will experience smoke at
lighter levels than yesterday. In general smoke dispersion is better today.
However, the exception will be the Sams Valley and Shady Cove area as Air
Quality has been modeled as Unhealthy. Areas South of the combined “horseshoe”
transportation route of HWYS 199, 99 & I-5 which travel through the Rogue
River Valley, will remain relatively clear of smoke until mid-afternoon. With
shifting air flow in the afternoon (becoming west / southwest), smoke from
the Collier Butte Fire will move east and eventually impact all valleys
through the evening hours. Stouts Creek and Collier Butte fires are the
dominant smoke producing fires. |

Disclaimer: Air quality levels
affected only by fine particulates are addressed. Projected conditions can change quickly;
they
are based on forecasted weather, associated fire activity and dispersion
modeling. Sensitive groups including
individuals with asthma or heart disease, infants, children, pregnant women
and older adults should take precautions to avoid exposure to smoke. If you experience
health effects from smoke, see your doctor or health professional. In some cases your eyes are your
best tools, if it is smoky outside you are being impacted.
